Cedar is a kind of coniferous wood that is categorized as a softwood and its needles or cones stay all year round. Did you know that cedar trees fall under the Pinaceae and Cedrus genus family? Only a few species of Cedrus exits on the planet. However, they show specific characteristics, which make them very sought-after.

In case you didn’t know yet, Cedar wood is specifically typical in the Western Himalayas and regions surrounding the Mediterranean Sea. You will find four kinds of cedarwood, according to botanists:

  • Atlas cedar – located in Algeria and Morocco
  • Cyprus cedar – located in Cyprus
  • Lebanon cedar – located in Turkey and Lebanon
  • Deodar cedar – located in Western Himalaya

Those are the natural regions of the various species of cedar. However, they are not the only regions they could be discovered. The agriculture of cedar woods across the globe has been very efficient and effective.

Cedar slabs can now be seen around Australia, Western Europe, North America, New Zealand, and the entire region of the Mediterranean. But did you know that Cedar woods are also local? They are also accessible in California.
